My Stop Loss Order got triggered but the order did not get executed. Why?

Let's check how this could occur with an example

Sell Stop Loss Example:

  • Order Setup: Trigger price at 95, limit price at 95.50.
  • Scenario: When the LTP hits 95, the order triggers but looks to sell at 95.50 or higher.
  • Issue: If the stock drops to 94.5 after touching 95 without reaching 95.50, the order won't execute.
  • Tip: Set the trigger price slightly higher than the limit price to increase the chances of execution.

Buy Stop Loss Example:

  • Order Setup: Trigger price at 95, limit price at 94.50.
  • Scenario: When the LTP hits 95, the order triggers but looks to buy at 94.50 or lower.
  • Issue: If the stock rises to 95.5 after touching 95 without dropping to 94.50, the order won't execute.
  • Tip: Set the trigger price slightly lower than the limit price to increase the chances of execution.
