Navia Backup – Your Safety Net During Trading Downtime

Ensuring the seamless operation of a trading platform is critical in stock trading. Despite the multiple layers of redundancy built into our systems, unforeseen issues such as internet connectivity failures, exchange-side disruptions, or internal/vendor-managed server issues may occasionally impact trading platforms.

While the platform may experience interruptions, the markets continue to move. This can pose a challenge for clients who are unable to place or square off orders during such rare downtimes, potentially leading to financial losses.

To mitigate this risk, we have introduced Navia Backup – an independent, stand-alone system designed to help you square off existing positions at market rates during extended platform downtimes. Navia Backup ensures that you remain in control of your positions even if the primary trading application becomes unavailable.

Key Features of Navia Backup

  1. Emergency Use Only – Navia Backup is activated only during extended trading downtime.
  2. Square-Off Only – Clients can close existing positions; creating fresh positions is not permitted.
  3. Market Orders Only – All square-off orders will be placed at market price (limit orders are not accepted).
  4. Order Routing – Orders are sent to the exchange once every 5 minutes.
  5. One Square off per Security – Once a square-off is placed, the option will be disabled.
  6. Trade Confirmation – Clients receive trade confirmations on their registered mobile number via WhatsApp.
  7. Standalone System – Trades executed via Navia Backup may not reflect or take time to reflect in the Trading App once it resumes.
  8. Reconciliation Required – After the primary platform is restored, clients must review positions and not repeat trades on the Main Trading App once it is back online to ensure no duplication of trades.
  9. BTST not allowed: Shares bought yesterday cannot be sold today.
  10. Position Check – Once the trading platform resumes,
  • Updated Trades can be verified by going to Accounts → Reports → Menu → Live Trades
  • Updates position may also reflect on Main trading APP after a delay
  • Updated positions can continue to be viewed from the Navia Backup utility also.

11. Margins – Margins related to trades executed in Navia Backup may not be adjusted or take time to be adjusted in the Trading App once it resumes.

Purpose of Navia Backup

Navia Backup is intended solely as a risk-mitigation tool. Its primary purpose is to empower clients to square off positions quickly during trading system downtimes, helping minimize potential financial losses.

Terms & Conditions

  • Availability: Navia Backup will only be accessible during significant, extended downtime of the main trading platform.
  • Order Types: Only square-off orders at market price are accepted. Fresh position creation and limit orders are not permitted.
  • Order Modification: Pending orders placed prior to downtime cannot be modified using Navia Backup. If such pending orders get executed during downtime, any resultant losses remain the client’s responsibility.
  • Order Routing: Orders are sent to the exchange in 5-minute intervals.
  • Trade Reflection: As Navia Backup is independent, executed trades will not reflect immediately in the trading app/platform once it resumes. Clients must carefully reconcile to avoid duplicate trades.
  • Data Source: Navia Backup relies on exchange-provided feeds (NOTIS). While Navia makes best efforts to provide real-time updates, delays may occur, and any resulting losses are the client’s responsibility.
  • User Responsibility: Clients are responsible for the accuracy of the orders placed via Navia Backup and for monitoring the status of downtime and market conditions.
  • Risk Acknowledgment: Clients acknowledge that Navia Backup functions in a time-sensitive environment and may be subject to technical delays or operational uncertainties. Market risks, price movements, or losses from pending orders executed during downtime remain with the client.
  • Modifications: Navia reserves the right to modify or update the terms of Navia Backup at its discretion.
  • Service Interruption: Navia may suspend or terminate Navia Backup temporarily or permanently for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.
  • Applicability: These terms apply in addition to Navia’s standard Terms & Conditions.

Navia Backup has been built to give you confidence even in rare disruption scenarios. By offering this independent safeguard, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting your interests and ensuring that you always have a way to stay in control of your trading positions.
